Hydraguard

Hydraguard: ant dirt build up, the fitted barrier, and an installed unit in the field

Hydraguard is a one-off, permanent fix for ant dirt build-up. It's a glass-reinforced nylon, potable-safe plastic plate with a rubber outer rim that seals against the inside of a 225mm Sn1/Pn4 PVC thin-wall stormwater pipe, bolted in between the hydrant flanges, directly under the spring hydrant, with a gasket top and bottom.

Tested to 6000kPa for 24 hours. WSAA approved. IPAM approved. Proven over a 10-year trial.

Supplied as a kit for either 80mm or 100mm flanged spring hydrants, including both gaskets and the 316 stainless bolts, nuts and washers required for installation. The Pn4 225mm PVC stormwater pipe and base plate are not included.

Hydraguard is in use with water authorities including Icon Water in the ACT, which is installing it in all new subdivisions. It halves underground hydrant maintenance costs by eliminating ant dirt build-up, and is popular with fire authorities for keeping hydrants accessible.

  • For new mains, subdivisions, or any time hydrant heads are replaced
  • Extremely strong glass-reinforced nylon with a very long service life
  • Installed with a base plate to create two stiff fixing points, easing backfill and centring the hydrant
  • Does not interfere with repair of the hydrant ball and rubber
  • Easily installed as part of a new spring hydrant assembly
  • Available in 80mm and 100mm flange patterns
